Official Freelance Company Site:

Experiment Recap

June 29, 2011

After 31 days following this program I do not feel like I am in a great place to be a competitive freelancer, however I do believe I am in a better place than I would be without it.

I do have a to-do list for a few items I have not finished. The items I did not originally complete included loading a wordpress them on a separate host, installing plugins, finding forums to post on, signing up for twitter, writing guest posts, and putting together a cold call list.

I did load the workaholic theme on I used the plugins AKISMET, SEO Complete, Paypal, easy contact, and facebook like button.

Tonight I also signed up for Twitter. I am now live @529designs

I still need to find blogs and forums for local businesses, put together some freebies, write some guest posts, and assemble a cold call list. These will be done in time.

Day 31. Compete in the Freelancing Marketplace

The last lesson for the series is how to competitive and get jobs now that all the tools to get jobs have been established.

The lesson provided a list of freelance websites to help start landing jobs. Since local business will be my niche, these boards will not be my primary source of job searching. However, they will still be good for building my portfolio and my business. A little extra income will never hurt. In fact, just last night I registered for Elance.

Day 29. To Find Clients, Give Away Useful Stuff

The article suggests that in order to get more customers you should give things away. This makes sense if your primary business is online. Come to think, most of the marketing strategies from this series have been from the standpoint of bloggers.

However, in trying to keep with the assignments I am going to make a list of items I could give away:

1- Design service
2- Hosting
3- Guide to finding a web designer
4- Concepts to consider in creating a website
5- Templates
